Laos has decided to confer the National Gold Order – Laos’ highest distinction to Hanoi on its 1,000th anniversary, according to the Vietnamese embassy in Laos.

Laos also sent a delegation to attend the grand ceremony marking the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi and to present the National Gold Order to Hanoi’s leaders in person.

Meanwhile, the inauguration ceremony for a Vietnam-Laos secondary school was held in Sekong in southern Laos.

Construction on the school began at the end of 2008 and the 7,700 square-metre school was built with assistance from several Vietnamese provinces including Da Nang, Binh Dinh, Quang Nam, Kon Tum, and Quang Ngai and equipped with modern facilities.

The Mayor of Sekong province, Khampheui Boutdavieng stated that the event reflects close relationship between the two countries, especially the local authorities in border areas in spirit of solidarity and cooperation.
