Workshop on 70 years of Vietnam's Constitution

VOV.VN - On November 5, the National Assembly Office hosted a workshop on 70 years of Vietnam’s Constitution.

Participants discussed the historic significance of the first Constitution, and its role in national liberation struggles and national industrialization, modernization, and international integration.

Deputy Head of the Law Commission of the 13th National Assembly Associate Professor Doctor Le Minh Thong said, “The 1946 Constitution featured democratic values which were reflected in parliamentary activities. The head of the State who was also the head of the government was elected by the National Assembly. Regarding these values, we need further research”.

They also discussed stipulations on human rights, rights and obligation of citizens in the 1946 Constitution. These stipulations are continued to be included in the 2013 Constitution.

Also that day, an exhibition on 70 years of Vietnam’s Constitution was held featuring nearly 100 photos and documents on decrees, and stories about the compilation and ratification of the constitutions.
