HCM City celebrates Czech Republic’s 97th National Day

A ceremony was held in Ho Chi Minh City on November 19 to mark the 97th National Day of the Czech Republic (October 28, 1918) in the presence of visiting President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Milan Stech.

A concert featuring Czech artists took place later the same day to herald the 65th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Czech diplomatic ties.

The events were organised by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), and the Vietnam-Czech Friendship Association (VCFA) in Ho Chi Minh City.

In his remarks, President of VCFA in Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Muoi spoke highly of the long-standing Vietnam-Czech relations which enjoyed significant progress in recent years.

Vietnam always treasures the support of Czech people during its struggle for independence in the past as well as today’s nation-building, he added.

Muoi believed that the ties would expand further in all fields, noting that Ho Chi Minh City will work hard to strengthen the relations.

The VCFA in Ho Chi Minh City vowed to act as a bridge for the friendship between the two people.

For his part, Milan Stech recalled milestones in Czech history and in the relations between the two countries.

The official reiterated that the growing ties have greatly benefited both peoples and proposed for closer cooperation in culture, education, tourism, trade and investment.
