Exports to Africa surge

(VOV) - Vietnam’s commodity exchange with South Africa, Egypt, Ghana, Tanzania and Ivory Coast showed an optimistic growth in the first eight months of this year.

In the reviewed period, Vietnam’s export turnover to South Africa reached US$701.3 million, up 36% compared to the same period last year.

The country’s export turnover to Ivory Coast and Tanzania achieved US$106.7 million, up 12.9% and US$54.85 million, up 160%, respectively.

Meanwhile, exports to Nigeria, Mozambique and Angola declined.

Major export items to Africa were mobile phones and spare parts, and computers.

While Vietnam’s import revenue from South Africa reduced by 23.7% against 2014, its import revenue from Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Tunisia increased.

Key import products from Africa in the first eight months were cashew nuts, plastics, vegetables, metals and chemicals.
