Local police detects major int’l gambling bust
(VOV) - Vietnam’s police forces have detected a major international online gambling ring operating via the M88.com website, with bets reaching thousands of billions of Vietnam Dong (VND).
Colonel Ho Sy Tien, Head of Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security, announced on January 16 that the website was launched in Vietnam three years ago with a server installed abroad to offer online betting services relating to football and horse racing events.
As a result of painstaking efforts the local police finally seized ten suspects, one car, eight laptops, 19 mobile phones, 25 ATM cards and VND565 million in cash.
Among them is a bank officer whose brother was also involved in the gambling.
