A friendship meeting between Vietnamese and Chinese women was held in Beijing on December 17 to mark the 60th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties.

The meeting was organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in China, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAF), the China-ASEAN Association (CAA) and the China-Vietnam Friendship Association.

Present at the event were Vietnamese Ambassador to China, Nguyen Van Tho and his wife, Ta Anh Dao; former President of the Chinese Women’s Federation and president of the CAA, Gu Xiulian; embassy’s staff; Vietnamese people in Beijing and representatives from China government agencies.

At the meeting, Ta Anh Dao said that over the past 60 years, the traditional friendship between the two countries has been developing well and women from both countries are proud of contributing to the strengthening of these ties.

Gu Xiulian said women play an important role everywhere in the world, including in China and Vietnam. The meeting was a good opportunity for Vietnamese and Chinese women to foster mutual understanding and trust.

A special programme of art performance by Vietnamese and Chinese women took place on this occasion.
