Cambodia ensures traffic safety, order for traditional New Year

Cambodia has deployed more forces to ensure traffic safety and order from its capital city of Phnom Penh to Siem Reap city in order to prepare for the traditional Choul Chnam Thmey (New Year) festival, especially during the Angkor Sangkran on April 13.

Cambodia’s “Happy” website quoted Kuch Veng Srun, representative of the Cambodian Youth Union, as saying that security forces from Phnom Penh and police in Siem Reap have worked together to guarantee security during the event.

He stressed that security is a top priority to ensure safety and joy for tourists during the festival.

The first-aid and 24/24 information-handling points will be stationed near the festival’s venues to assist tourists, while food hygiene and environment will be under scrutiny, he added

This year’s Choul Chnam Thmey festival will take place from April 13-16.
