Party Congress is a turning point in national development

Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam, Saadi Salama: the 11th National Party Congress is an important political event which will devise new policies and orientations to make Vietnam much stronger and even more prosperous in the future.

The remark was made by Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam on the sidelines of a meeting to mark the 45th anniversary of the Organisation of Solidarity of the People of Asia, Africa and Latin America in Hanoi on January 11. A VOV reporter had the chance to talk with Ambassador Saadi Salama on the occasion.

VOV: Vietnam’s 11th National Party Congress opens in Hanoi on January 12. Are you interested in the event?

Ambassador Salama: This is an important event for Vietnamese people. I hope that the congress will devise new strategies to make the country much stronger and ever more prosperous as President Ho Chi Minh wished in his testament.

The congress is of great significance, especially after Vietnam has made many outstanding achievements in economic development. I hope that a goal to develop an industrialised country by 2020 will enjoy strong support and response from people all walks of life.

The congress is an important turning point in promoting the development of the national economy and ties of co-operation between Vietnam and other international countries.

Vietnam is a close friend of Palestine and on behalf of the Palestinian State and people I wish that the congress would be a great success.

VOV: What do you think of the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam CPV)?

Ambassador Salama: This year marks the 81st anniversary of the CPV which has brought about many victories not only in the struggle for national liberation but also in the process of national development.

In think that with the CPV’s open door policy and motto” of being friendly with all countries in the world”, many opportunities have been opened up for Vietnam to further develop its economy.

VOV: What’s your opinion on the future prospects of Vietnam-Palestine cooperation?

Ambassador Salama: Palestine attaches much importance to strengthening ties with Vietnam. Since I arrived here one year ago, I have done all my best to strengthen bilateral relations in all fields.

In 2010, we made significant progress in developing bilateral ties. In 2011 there will be a Vietnam-Palestine seminar and some other important events, aimed at tightening economic and trade ties between the two countries.

VOV: Thank you very much.
