Con Co island tourism route to open

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam agreed with the People’s Committee of the Central province of Quang Tri’s proposal on opening a new tourism route to Con Co island. 

The Deputy PM asked provincial authorities to work with the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Culture – Sport and Tourism and relevant agencies in planning infrastructure construction for tourism, while ensuring socio-economic development in concert with national defence. 

Located 30 km from the mainland, Con Co island, which crosses the 17th parallel, is considered an “outpost watch” due to its location. 

Covering on area of 2.3 square kilometres, it is one of the most magnificent islands of the central region with a diverse ecosystem. 

Tourists to Con Co can visit the hall of tradition which houses items reflecting the history of Con Co island district’s army and people over the past 55 years, pay tribute to Hill 37 Monument and visit Ben Nghe – Mom Ho beach.
