Vietnam finishes fourth at int’l volleyball tourney

Vietnamese girls on July 21 lost 2-3 to their rivals from the Republic of Korea to come in fourth place in the VTV-Eximbank International Volleyball Cup 2012.

Both teams entered the game with all players in good form, hoping to secure third place of the tournament.

The Vietnamese girls performed well in the first set, outplaying their Korean rivals 25-17.

However, the game was turned on its head in the second set after Vietnam lost 20/25.

The Korean team continued their winning streak in the third set with a score of 25/21 before being overwhelmed by Vietnam in the following set.

Vietnam and the RoK had to clash against each other in the decisive set, in which the hosts did not maintain their advantage in the first minutes to let their Korean rivals narrow the scoring and end the set with a score of 16-14.

Japanese girls successfully defended their championship title after defeating girls from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) 3-0.
