'Pristine' Vietnamese-English dictionaries up for auction

VOV.VN - Pristine copies of three out of the six specially printed 350,000-word English-Vietnamese Dictionary will go up for auction in Ho Chi Minh City this weekend, it has been announced.

The sale of the rare books published by MCBooks JSC will take place at the 9th Ho Chi Minh City Book Fair ongoing at Le Van Tam Park in District 1, with the proceeds going for charity.

Collectors who know of the dictionaries consider them to be in tip top condition saying they “feel like they just came off the press.”

"They are supple, the colours are deep and rich and the quality of the white pages is amazing for dictionaries."

The books are currently owned by a collector who is putting them up for auction without a reserve price.

He will donate a portion of the proceeds to charity, it was announced.

They are a special edition of a commercially printed dictionary first published in 2014 that is considered by many as one of the best-selling dictionaries of all time.

Portions of the artistry in the book is by painters Thanh Chuong, Dang Xuan Hoa, Pham An Hai, Phan Cam Thuong, and Pham Binh Chuong.
