Eight football teams from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Holland and Ukraine took part in the 2010 EuroViet football championships in Lodz, Poland from August 26-28.

The event was jointly organised by the Vietnamese Embassy and the Oversea Vietnamese Association in Poland.

On addressing the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Hoang said that this first football tournament provides an excellent chance for the European community to find out more about the country.

The event marks the country’s National Day (September 2) and 60 years of establishing diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Poland with various Vietnamese cultural activities and a firework display.
