The Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (Vinashin) inked 18 contracts with both domestic and foreign partners in Hanoi on February 22.

The contracts, signed within the framework of the 3rd International Exhibition on Shipbuilding, Marine Technology and Transportation, held in Hanoi between February 21-24, included deals to supply three 8,700-tonne ships to Japan and 10 4,600-tonne ships to Denmark, together worth nearly US$300 million.

A US$200-million project to build a shipbuilding yard in southern Binh Dinh province was signed between Vinashin and its Chinese partner, the CAMCO company.

Vinashin also entered contracts with two local companies for rice shipments to the Philippines, Cuba and other Scandinavian countries.
