Speaking at the meeting to mark the 81st anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), the Party General Secretary stressed that the country is coming into the new year after gaining many significant achievements in a number of sectors which contributed to the success of the five-year plan (2006-2010).
With the positive results of the 11th National Party Congress, the country is turning to a new course of development. The Party will concentrate on promoting the renewal process and mobilise the people’s strength to create the foundation for Vietnam to become an industrialised country by 2020, he added.
Mr. Trong also pointed out some opportunities and challenges that the country must face and said he believes that Vietnam will successfully implement the resolution of the Party Congress.
Also at the meeting, Mr. Trong expressed his gratitude to the war veterans, Vietnamese heroic mothers, the army and the people who have followed the wise guidance of the Party.
He also thanked the overseas Vietnamese for always turning their thoughts to their home country and the international friends for their great support and cooperation with Vietnam during its process of renewal.
