Vietnam Television (VTV) inaugurated its bureau in Washington DC, the USA, on August 14.

At the inauguration ceremony, VTV Director General Vu Van Hien said that the office, the fourth of its kind overseas, was established to provide viewers with up-to-date information about the US, relations between Vietnam and the US as well as international events taking place in this country.

Vietnamese Ambassador Le Cong Phung said that like the Vietnam News Agency and Radio the Voice of Vietnam, the establishment of the office will not only help Americans get more accurate information about Vietnam, but also promote mutual understanding between the two nations so as to improve bilateral relations.

Currently VTV has 7 public and nearly 20 paid channels. VTV4, which is designed for Vietnamese nationals residing abroad, can be seen on almost every continent.
