Vietnamese people’s heroism and patriotism have always provided encouragement for Mexicans, said Virgilio Caballero, President of the Mexican Institute for Friendship and Cooperation with Vietnam.
  • Mexico wants to enhance ties with Vietnam

Caballero said this at a recent reception in Mexico for Nguyen Duy Cuong, member of the Presidium of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations cum Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association.

He said Mexico is proud to be the only Latin America country, except Cuba that has erected two statues of late Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh.

He also said Mexico is willing to promote Vietnam’s image in its mass media and proposed setting up statues of late Mexican President Benito Juarez in Hanoi and late President Vicente Guerrero in Hai Phong.

For his part, Cuong expressed his wish to boost cooperation with the Mexican Institute for Friendship and Cooperation with Vietnam.

Previously, Cuong worked with the Mexico-Vietnam parliamentarian friendship group and Pedro Vázquez, a member of the Mexican legislature’s Lower House.
