The two sides affirmed the wish to continue enhancing the partnership and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

They said bilateral cooperation has been developing positively as illustrated by a visit to Vietnam by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin in September 2017 and the 14th meeting of the bilateral Inter-Governmental Committee in Kiev one month later.

Discussing measures to strengthen connections, they said the two countries will increase mutual visits at all levels and press on with realising the agreements reached at the 14th meeting of the Vietnam – Ukraine Inter-Governmental Committee on economic-trade and scientific-technological cooperation.

More favourable conditions will also be provided for the countries’ businesses to boost partnership in the fields that match Ukraine’s strength and Vietnam’s demand like energy, agriculture and health care.

The two countries will also step up trade and cultural and people-to-people exchanges, the officials added.

Deputy Minister Kyslytsya highly valued contributions by the Vietnamese community in his country to bilateral ties.

The officials also agreed to continue organising consultations between the two foreign ministries’ agencies on the basis of the ministries’ consultation plan for 2018 – 2019.

At the event, they shared views on world and regional issues of common concern, including the European and Asian-Pacific situation, and agreed to keep close coordination at international forums, especially the United Nations.

Ukraine reiterated its support for Vietnam’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council for 2020 – 2021.
