A Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) delegation led by Vuong Thua Phong, Deputy Head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations attended the 24th National Congress of the Communist Party of Chile (CPC) from December 10-12.

The congress focused on measures to enhance Chile’s alliance with left-wing and progressive forces, domestic and regional social organisations in order to promote the struggle for socialism, independence and democracy as well as protecting worker interests.

Mr Phong delivered a speech at the opening ceremony and presented a telegram from the CPV Central Committee to the congress.

During their stay in Santiago, the Vietnamese delegation met with CPC President Guillermo Tellier and General Secretary Lautaro Carmona to discuss ways of promoting solidarity and cooperation between both countries.
