World Environment Day marked in many localities

VOV.VN -The southern city of Vung Tau on June 5 launched a campaign planting one million trees in response to World Environment Day.

In his remarks, Nguyen Van Tai, Director General of the Vietnam Environment Administration said, “The call to plant trees was first made by President Ho Chi Minh.
The movement, which used to involve only government agencies and local residents, is now responded by businesses. They also contribute funding to help address environmental pollution and reduce disaster risks”.

One day earlier, the Month of Action for Environment was launched in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province to respond to World Environment Day.

Under the theme “Connecting People to Nature”, activities held during World Environment Day, the event aimed to encourage the public to protect the earth, the nature, and the harmonious relationship between humans and nature.

Vietnam considers protecting natural resources and the environment, and climate change response as key tasks. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment gave awards 2017 to 50 groups and individuals who excelled in environmental protection.
