A poetry night was held in Vientiane, Laos on November 6, celebrating the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, the 450th commemoration of Vientiane and the 35th establishment of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

The event was organised by the Vietnamese embassy in Laos, the Vietnamese Writers’ Association, the Lao Writers’ Association, and Vietnamese Investment and Business Cooperation Association in Laos.

Former Vietnamese State Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh, Vietnamese ambassador to Laos Ta Minh Chau and many Vietnamese people living in Laos presented the poetry night, which was also attended by Lao high-ranking officials.

The two sides said the event was of great literary significance for the two countries and they hope to have more such cultural exchanges in the future to strengthen mutual understanding and solidarity among poets and writers from both countries.

The poetry night made a good impression on listeners with poems portraying the landscape, people and friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
