Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has reaffirmed Vietnam’s policy of enhancing ties with other ASEAN member nations.

While welcoming ASEAN and Chinese delegates to the 7th Conference on ASEAN-China People-to-People Friendship Organisations in Hanoi on August 17, Ngan said she hopes that ASEAN member countries will work closely together to achieve a common voice at regional and international inter-parliamentarian forums.

She also spoke highly of developments in the Vietnam-China relationship, saying that as a neighbouring country with time-honoured relations, Vietnam attaches great importance to consolidating friendship and cooperation between the two peoples and legislative bodies.

Gu Xiulian, president of the China-ASEAN Association and head of the Chinese delegation to the conference, briefed Chairwoman Ngan on the outcomes of the conference.

Gu said she hopes that in the new period of development, the China-ASEAN Association and friendship organisations will join hands to create an Asia of peace, stability and development, helping to raise friendship and cooperation between China and ASEAN to a new level.
