Upon arrival at Thailand’s airport, the Vietnamese team received a warm welcome from the organizing committee, particularly voluntary groups from the host country.
Pham Ngoc Son, vice head of the Vietnamese team remarked that Thailand has prepared carefully because the host country has a lot of experience in receiving sports delegations, especially disabled athletes.
Later the same day, the Vietnamese team moved to Nakhon Ralchasima, 260 km from Bangkok, where the games will take place.
The fourth ASEAN Para Games will officially open on Sunday, January 20 and last one week. During the games, over 900 athletes from 11 countries in the region will compete in 14 events for 935 medals. The Vietnamese team has 117 athletes, registered in 8 events, and aims to come in the top 3.
One hundred people out of a total of 175 members of the Vietnamese disabled sports team arrived in Thailand on January 17 to participate in the fourth ASEAN Para Games.
