The Embassy of Vietnam in Mexico joined its counterparts from four other members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in organising the Bazar International Fair 2007 on November 24.

The event, which was jointly held by Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, was aimed at promoting cultural exchange, as well as highlighting the land and people of the ASEAN member countries.

Vietnam’s booth showcasing handicraft products, traditional costumes and publications on the country’s renewal achievements drew a large number of visitors.

Pham Van Que, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico, was optimistic about Vietnam-Mexico of corporation ties in economics and many other fields. Two-way trade reached close to US$500 million last year, he said.

The diplomat took this occasion to call on the Vietnamese community in Mexico to raise funds for flood victims in the home country’s central region.
