Vietnam’s Health Ministry has not yet confirmed a tenth death from the A/H1N1 flu although the victim tested positive for the virus at the Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute.
Nguyen Huy Nga, Chief of the Health Preventive and Environment Department, said this was the second death in the Mekong delta province of Ben Tre .

At a meeting of the National Steering Committee for Combating Influenza in Humans in Hanoi on September 23, Nga reported that the victim was a 59 years old woman who was suffering from end-stage renal failure due to chronic kidney disease and type 2 diabetes.

The victim was taken to the Ben Tre provincial hospital on September 17 and died at the Cho Ray hospital in Ho Chi Minh City on September 21.

On September 23, Vietnam confirmed 194 new A/H1N1 flu cases, including 120 in the south, 46 in the north, six in the central region and 22 in the Central Highlands.
