Danang earns US$1.5 billion from exports

The central city of Danang earned US$1.5 billion from exports last year, of which 86 percent came from the industrial sector.

“This is the highest figure ever recorded so far, especially in the context of world economic slowdown,” Vice Major Phung Tan Viet said at year-end meeting with official from the industry and trade department. 

Foreign-invested businesses contributed 53 percent of the city’s total export earnings, he added. 

Danang’s total industrial production was valued at VND14.6 trillion (US$695 million) in 2012, 8.6 percent higher than in 2011 and tourism industry fetched VND2.6 trillion (US$124 million) from over 2.6 million visitors.

The city currently has 241 foreign-invested projects with a total capitalization of US$3.6 billion.
