Hanoi, Japan’s Fukuoka step up cooperation

At a reception for Masayuki Nakao, Chairman of the Fukuoka provincial Council, Chung suggested Hanoi and Fukuoka should boost their cooperation in education and tourism.

He said Hanoi will give priority to rapid and sustainable development, especially the building of fresh water supply system, in the next five years.

Hanoi is expected clean 1,300 lakes and plant 1 million trees in the locality during the 2016-2020 period, the official said.

The capital city is working on a plan on infrastructure development and calling for investments in five bridges spanning over the Hong (Red) River from foreign investors, including those from Japan, Chung said.

Masayuki Nakao noted with pleasure the increased cooperation between Hanoi and Fukuoka in health care, culture and education since the signing of the agreement on cooperation in economy, trade, tourism and culture in February 2008.

Fukuoka will consider Hanoi’s suggestions, pledging support for enterprises to seek partners. Fukuoka and Hanoi will augment their cooperation and friendship across the board, he said.

The same day, Masayuki Nakao and his entourage were welcomed by Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan.
