Vietnam’s cultural policy profile unveiled

Vietnam’s cultural policy profile, as part of the International Database of Cultural Policies, was unveiled at a forum on innovative industry strategy in Hanoi on December 5.

The database is to provide capacity to monitor and analyse global trends in key aspects of cultural policies.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also debuted the UNESCO and British Council-funded draft strategy on the country’s innovative industry that touches on culture-related issues like infrastructure, modern technologies and development guidelines.

The final document will be submitted to the Asia–Europe Culture Ministers’ Meeting in the Netherlands next year.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho Anh Tuan said Vietnam has worked out the cultural development draft until 2020 with a vision for 2030.

Deputy Executive Director of the Asia-Europe Foundation Karsten Warnecke hailed the event as a platform to devise a sound legal framework for innovative industry under the public-private model.

Delegates shared the view that the industry will give a boost to sustainable economic growth and bring into full play national cultural identity.

They put forward a roadmap for the industry as well as establishing a national committee and an international consultancy group.
