The Vietnam Human Resources Day 2011 was held in HCM City on November 13 to raise public awareness of the lack of high quality human resources among Vietnamese businesses.

The event was co-organised by the Vietnam Education Consultancy (EduViet), the Vietnam Youth Entrepreneurs’ Association, the Human Resources Forum and the Human Resources Directors’ Club.

Former Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Nguyen Thi Hang said that international integration has forced Vietnamese businesses to change their way of thinking, especially regarding management, which plays a key role in developing human resources.

High quality human resources are a decisive factor behind the country’s socio-economic development and Vietnam must learn about proper training in the near future in order to achieve essential breakthroughs, said Hang.

Many speakers suggested ways of solving the shortage of high quality human resources by improving training at schools and universities, and promoting the involvement of businesses. They said it is necessary to devise a transparent policy on salaries and bonuses to attract the best talent.

The speakers also suggested businesses should improve working environments to include competent managers, transparent human resources, competitive remuneration and more opportunities for promotion.
