A US$5-million multiplex cinema with state-of-the-art facilities was inaugurated on April 26 at Vincom City Towers, Hanoi.

MegaStar Cineplex, an eight-screen complex of over 1,100 seats, was an investment by the Megastar Media JV Vietnam, a joint-venture between the Envoy Media Partners Limited and Phuong Nam Culture Joint Stock Co.

"In cooperation with major international film producers, we would like to bring the latest films to Vietnamese movie-goers by the time they are on silver screen in other countries in the region," said Edward Shugrue, Envoy Media CEO and President of Megastar Media JV.

MegaStar Media, set up last year, now operates four multiplex cinemas, two in HCM city, one in Hai Phong city and one in Dong Nai province. The company plans to open 10 multiplex cinemas with as many as 100 screens.
