Chinese defence official welcomed in Quang Ninh
(VOV) - Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh received Lieutenant General Qi Jianguo, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army in the north-eastern border province of Quang Ninh on March 11.
Thanh reiterated Vietnam’s determination to develop its comprehensive cooperative relations with China, suggesting that both sides promote high-level exchange visits among young officers and expand twin relationship.
He also extended sympathies to families of Chinese passengers on board the missing Malaysian jetliner which Vietnam is making every effort to scour for.
Qi Jianguo thanked Vietnam for its active participation in the search and voiced his hope that the two armies will strengthen delegation exchange at all levels and collaboration in personnel training and border and marine work.
On the same day, Lieutenant General Qi Jianguo and his delegation visited the Tra Co border guard post.
Qi is leading a delegation of the Chinese Defence Ministry to attend the Vietnam-China friendship border defence exchange programme in Quang Ninh.
