Vietnam, Laos keen to continue strengthening friendship

Final tribute to a loyal solider of the nation
Vo Chi Cong (born Vo Toan), former President of the State Council, Chairman of the National Defence Council and Deputy Prime Minister, died at Thong Nhat Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City on September 8, aged 99.
Comrade Cong, who was also a Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, advisor to the Party Central Committee and a deputy in the 6th, 7th and 8th tenures of the National Assembly, made great contributions to the Party and nation's revolutionary cause.

He was awarded the Gold Star Order by the Party and State and the 70-year Party badge, as well as many other prestigious orders and medals. He will be honoured with a State funeral.
Tributes to the late leader will be paid on September 10 and 11 at the Thong Nhat Hall in HCM City and a memorial service will be held in the early morning of September 12 at the same venue.

A series of bomb attacks in India, Pakistan

The bom was said to be placed in a case outside the main gates leading to the reception at the court.
On the same day, a pair of suicide bombings in southwestern Pakistan left 17 people dea and 25 others injured.
