Vietnamese pianist Hoang Pham Tra Mi beat other 29 contestants in her age group to win gold at the International Chopin Piano Competition held in Singapore from December 1-5.

The event was co-organised by the Chopin Society in Singapore, the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and the Polish embassy in Singapore.

The jury included famous musicians and professors from Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Poland.

The competition attracted 145 pianists from 15 Asian countries who competed in five age groups, including a contingent of seven Vietnamese headed by Dr. Ta Quang Dong from the Vietnam National Academy of Music.

Hoang Pham Tra Mi also won gold at the Asian Music Festival in Choenan, Republic of Korea last July.
