Vietnam shares mankind desire for peace

(VOV) - Ambassador Le Hoai Trung, Vietnam’s Permanent Representative to the UN has reiterated the country’s willingness to share the mankind’s desire for peace and development as the country had to suffer great losses to protect its independence and territorial integrity.

He made the remarks at a debate entitled “Wars, lessons learned and efforts to seek sustainable peace” held by the UN Security Council in New York, the US, to mark the 100th anniversary of the first World War.

Ambassador Trung said that since its establishment after the World War II, the UN has contributed significantly to preventing a new possible world war while dealing with the consequences of many world conflicts.

He urged the international community and the UN to improve the important roles of the international laws, the regional mechanisms and organizations to promote dialogues, build trust, condemn the acts of violence and solve international disputes through peaceful means.
