Vietnamese craftsmen and artists will participate in the 41st Smithsonian Folklife Festival scheduled to take place in Washington D.C in the US, from June 27 to July 8.

As guests of the programme “Mekong River: Connecting Cultures”, the 39 craftsmen and artists will present the traditionally diverse culture, land and people of Vietnam through craft demonstrations, dance and musical performances and audience participation activities.

The festival is an international exposition of living cultural heritage annually hosted in the grounds of the National Mall adjacent to the US-based Smithsonian Institution's Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.

The festival is usually divided into programmes featuring a nation, region, state or theme. To date the festival has featured exemplary representatives from more than 90 nations, every region of the United States, scores of ethnic communities and more than 100 American Indian groups.
