Ha Tay province, next door to Hanoi, which boasts a good geographic position, great natural resources and an abundant labour force has attracted 73 projects from abroad, including many from Japanese investors.

A seminar to promote investments in Ha Tay province was held in Japan on February 27 under the sponsorship of the Vietnamese embassy in Japan and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO). Japanese economic researchers and representatives of more than 200 small-and medium-sized enterprises attended the seminar.

Speaking on the occasion, chairman of the Ha Tay provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Xuan Cuong introduced Ha Tay’s economic and investment potential, particularly its current plan for investment in building urban areas and industrial parks.

To achieve an economic growth rate of 13.5 percent in 2007, Ha Tay provincial authorities have focused on industrial development to make a breakthrough in the process of drawing investment from overseas, especially from Japan.

According to President of the LINTEC executive board, Jirano Izuni, Vietnam is becoming a hot investment destination for Japanese investors. The company has established production plants in China and Indonesia. Now, it plans to seek new investment opportunities in Vietnam.
