Japanese organisations appreciated qualifications of Vietnamese trainees, said Japan International Training Corporation Organisation (JITCO) Executive Director Michiaki Sada at a seminar on sending and receiving Vietnamese technical trainees held in Tokyo on July 10. The seminar drew the participation of a delegation from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, led by Minister Nguyen Thi Hang, and Chairwoman of the National Assembly Committee for Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Hoai Thu.

The past years have seen an increased number of Vietnamese trainees sent to Japan, but the number is still lower than that of other countries, said Mr Sada while reporting on the status of Vietnamese technical trainees in Japan.

However, the decampment of trainees remained serious, he said, adding that a more careful selection process is needed to address the problem.

Minister Hang asked Japan to expand the cooperation forms and implement a policy to reward those trainees who well implement contracts, including extending contracts; to resolutely repatriate those trainees who violate the law; and to urge Japanese employers not to recruit law breakers.
