Vietnam has technically concluded the 12th round of negotiations with the United States on its World Trade Organisation (WTO) membership. The negotiations completed in the early morning of May 13 in Washington D.C after one week of intense discussions, with several issues remaining unsolved.

Prime Minister Phan Van Khai's special envoy, Trade Minister Truong Dinh Tuyen, met Vietnamese trade negotiators immediately in the morning, urging them to work with the US side to resolve all remaining issues.

The 12th Vietnam-US round of negotiations on Vietnamese accession to the WTO took place from May 9 in the US capital.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by Vice Minister of Trade Luong Van Tu and the US delegation by Ms. Dorothy Dwoskin, Assistant US Trade Representative.
