Construction work on a water supply plant of 2,000cu.m in daily capacity started in the Bo Y border gate economic zone in the Central Highland province of Kon Tum on September 14.

The plant’s major sections are expected to be completed prior to the rainy season, said the Management Board of the economic zone.

This is the first water plant of its kind built in the economic zone. The project has a total investment capital of VND45 billion (over US$2.5 million), of which nearly VND26 billion is in the form of official development assistance (ODA) from the Japanese government and the remainder is the State’s counter-balance capital.

Once the plant is put into operation by the end of this year, it is expected to supply safe water to nearly 10,000 people living in the Bo Y international border gate economic zone, and put an end to the current shortage of safe water.
