Air Mekong suspends flights from March

(VOV) -Commercial airline Air Mekong will temporarily stop its operations from March 1 to restructure its fleet and personnel.

Vo Huy Cuong, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Civil Aviation Administration, said that Air Mekong has basically paid off its large debts, and the remainder has been guaranteed by a commercial bank.

Representatives from the company said that it decided to announce the temporary suspension not to cause any inconvenience for cargo transport and passengers.

Air Mekong’s booking agents have informed that they still have seats available for flights up until February 28, 2013.

Air Mekong is the only airline in Vietnam operating 90-seat Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft manufactured in Canada. After a period of commercial use, Air Mekong has determined that the aircraft are not suitable for further flights and are grounding the aircraft while they look for a replacement.
