Citizens urged to contribute to Constitution revise
National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has requested Party Committees at all levels to encourage every citizen to contribute their opinions on the draft amendments to the 1992 Constitution.
In his letter on March 6, Hung, who is also Chairman of the Committee for Drafting Amendments to the 1992 Constitution, asked local authorities to send to each household copies of draft amendments to the original text of the Constitution within March to make it easier for every citizen to express their ideas.
Agencies and organisations nationwide need to discuss the draft amendments with their officials and employees in an open and objective manner.
Regarding the deadline for collecting feedback, the letter said people’s feedback collected between January 2 and March 31 this year will be submitted to the NA for consideration at its fifth session in May and for approval at the sixth session in October.
From March 31 until September 30, citizens are still able to make their recommendations on the draft revision of the Constitution. Organisations and localities are responsible for collecting all opinions and submitting them to the committee.
