Twenty-three Vietnamese students have been chosen to attend the international Olympiads, the Ministry of Education and Training said.


The Olympiads, which is held in Vietnam for the first time, includes separate competitions for chemistry, physics, maths, IT and biology.


Six students, including two from Hanoi, one from central Quang Binh province and three others from the northern provinces, will attend the 48th International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO), which will take place in different countries across the world from July 19-31.


Vietnam’s six-member maths team won two gold, two silver and two bronze medals at the 47th IMO held in Slovenia in 2006.


This year, four students from Hanoi, Hai Phong port city and northern Phu Tho province and will participate in the 39th International Chemistry Olympiad, which will be organized in Russia from July 15-24.

A five-member physics team will attend the contest, scheduled for July 13-21 in Iran.
