As much as VND7.4 billion will be allocated from now through 2010 for restoring and developing traditional industries of the ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands township of Kon Tum, announced its People's Committee.

The funds, mobilised from local sources and financial credits, will be used to build infrastructure in trade villages, to support job training activities by craftsmen in their production units, and to support the promotion, advertisement and sale of handicraft products.

Under the project, the Kon Tum township is now calling capital investment to build two trade villages, which will serve as trading centres for satellite production units throughout the town.

At present, products of more than 1,300 craft households are mainly serving their families' and the local community's demand. However, products made from brocade by two co-operatives and a production unit are gaining ground outside Kon Tum province.
