National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong bestowed the honourable Ho Chi Minh Order on his predecessor Nguyen Van An on June 4 for a lifetime of remarkable accomplishments.

Five other retired senior NA officials were granted the Independence Order, second class, for the roles they played in the nation's regeneration.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, chairman Trong asked the former leaders of the nation’s legislative body to continue to play a part in, whatever capacity they can, improving the functions and quality of the National Assembly.
