Belgian businesses are keen on the investment environment and opportunities in Ho Chi Minh City, especially in terms of infrastructure and transport projects, said Belgian Foreign Minister K.De Gucht at a meeting with the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan on June 13.

Some Belgian businesses plan to build five-star hotels in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and to invest in tourism infrastructure projects.

Minister Gucht highly valued co-operation between Belgium and Vietnamese localities. He said that co-operation between east Flanders, Liege and Ho Chi Minh City has achieved significant results, bringing benefits to local people. He added that implementing comprehensive measures to overcome current difficulties and building new projects will bring about a favourable development environment for both Vietnam and Belgium.

Mr Quan introduced investment and co-operation opportunities in Ho Chi Minh City, especially in developing new urban areas, tertiary systems, seaports and international airports.

During his short time in Ho Chi Minh City, Minister Gucht visited some economic establishment of the Flanders region. On the afternoon of June 13, Mr Gucht and his entourage left Ho Chi Minh City, successfully concluding their visit to Vietnam.
