Vietnam sends emergency relief to Philippine storm victims

(VOV) - The Vietnamese government has decided to offer US$100,000 in emergency relief to Philippine victims of recent typhoon Haiyan.

State President Truong Tan Sang and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on November 10 cabled a message of condolences to Philippine President Benigno A. Aquino III over the huge human and property losses caused by typhoon Haiyan.

They hoped the government and people of the Philippines would soon overcome the consequences of the natural disaster and stabilise their lives.

In their message, they said they will consider additional aid to support the victims.

The same day Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also sent a message of sympathy to his Philippine counterpart Albert F. Del Rosario.

Haiyan swept across central Philippines on November 9, claiming more than 10,000 lives.
