National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong was elected as Head of the National Steering Board of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA)-31, which made its debut in Hanoi on January 4.
This year as Vietnam holds rotary Presidency of the ASEAN, it will also assume leader of AIPA and hosts its plenary session.
Mr. Trong told board members to readily provide logistics work, leaving a deep impression on its international friends that Vietnam is a country of peace and stability, a colourful and specific culture, an abundance of friendly people and a dynamic, renewed National Assembly.
He also emphasised the importance of proper preparations to ensure tight security and a harmonious setting for AIPA and ASEAN operations.
