ASEAN Foreign Ministers have agreed to set up a working group to discuss the drafting of a Code of Conduct (COC) of Parties in the East Sea, a Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
FM spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi made the statement in response to a Vietnam News Agency reporter’s question on ASEAN’s establishment of a group to compile the COC, at the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry’s regular briefing in Hanoi on October 6.
The spokesman said the agreement was reached at the informal ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on the sidelines of the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 24, 2011.
