Addressing the seminar, Dr Le Huu Nghia, Director of the Academy, stressed that socialist countries have reaped enormous, historical achievements during their renovation process but still face many difficulties and challenges that require further creative application and development of Marxism-Leninism.
He said communist and workers parties are still working hard on these theoretical issues to avoid both dogmatism and revisionism.
The seminar received nearly 60 reports from Vietnamese and foreign scientists with a focus on four major issues: (1) Marxism – history and present, (2) capitalism and globalized capitalism, (3) main features and trends of the modern age, and (4) socialism – reality and prospects.
Delegates concentrated on the issues of modern capitalism such as trends for changes in its socio-economic structure, and the development of the modern working class inside capitalism. They also paid attention to theories for the current reality of socialism’s integration in the globalization process imbued with capitalist characteristics.
Once again, they reaffirmed the values and contributions of the reality socialism in the former Soviet Union and highlighted historic lessons drawn from the collapse of the world socialist system nearly two decades ago.
The seminar will close on December 17.
