The 79th Academy Awards finished on February 25 as a love fest for a long-overlooked American – Martin Scrosese for the best picture “The Departed”. The films also won best directing, adapted screenplay and film editing.

For Scorsese, this is the first time he won Oscar Awards after his film “Raging Bull” was nominated in 1981. Speaking at the awards ceremony, the 64-year-old director said “It was an overwhelming moment for me. Thank God we've been able to make so many films over the last 36 years without winning awards. This comes as an extraordinary surprise."
