The 80 Miss Universe contestants returned to the south-central coastal city of Nha Trang on June 29, after concluding their tour of Vietnam before the official contest gets underway.

At a press briefing at the Diamond Bay press centre, Le Xuan Than, vice chairman of the Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee said that on June 30 contestants will join a parade from the Yasaka-Saigon-Nha Trang Hotel to Tran Phu road finishing at 2-4 Square.


On July 2, contestants will take part in the swimming costumes part of the contest at the Vinpearl Land resort. During the show, two paintings by two HIV painters will be auctioned off to raise funds for charitable activities.


On July 3, they will visit the SOS village and the Green Club – a place for women with HIV can meet to support each other.


Mr Than said that to create the best conditions for visitors to see the final round of the event on June 14, flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang will take off earlier than usual.


*** Miss World 2007, Zhang Zi Lin, arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on June 28, beginning her humanitarian and social activities in Vietnam as part of a Miss World’s duties. Accompanying her was Teresa Sam, the runner up in the World Beauty Contest for Vietnamese.


At a ceremony on June 29 they presented 28 houses worth VND280 million donated by the company RAAS to poor people in Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province. They also took part in a series of charitable activities organised by RAAS in Ho Chi Minh City, Tien Giang, Lao Cai, and Hanoi.
